Automatic Cheese Grater

At the conclusion of the mechanical engineering degree at Carnegie Mellon, every student must participate in a seminal capstone design project.  For my capstone I decided to do a specialized project in electromechanical design.

In a group of three, we designed and prototyped an automatic cheese grater featuring three integrated actuators for the perfect grate.

• Programmed Arduino to control system using a combination of user input and force control via feedback from load cell

• Utilized solid modeling, FEA analysis, laser cutting and CNC mill to produce a fully functional prototype
