During my senior year at CMU I completed a thesis on "Computationally Generated Lattice Structures for Custom Prosthetic Liners", as a part of the Carnegie Institute of Technology Honor's program. Working closely with Miyu Kojima, under the supervision of Dr. Kenji Shimada, we researched a novel prosthetic liner that would eliminate the discomfort, cost, and lack of customizability in current market liners.
Utilizing a variably latticed technique and rapid prototyping we were able to create a custom liner that targeted further support in stress concentration areas.
